Venture Deals · glossary

Composite transaction

Several steps treated as one deal, each given in return for the others. If one step fails, none takes effect. The Deed of Exchange was one, so it is measured from its first step to its last. Deed of Exchange, clause 1 · Chapter 15

Explained in Chapter 15, The Exchange, the Reorganisation and the Handover, of Venture Deals.

How it comes up, in Chapter 15
This makes the deed a composite transaction. Every step depends on every other, so nobody can keep the steps they like and drop the rest. It also tells outsiders to measure the deal as one event, from start to finish.
