Consumer Terms

A gardening app launches a paid subscription with a free trial. You act for the company behind the app.

How an app tells its customers the deal, taught through one set of terms, notices and screens.

A raised vegetable bed in a garden, drawn from straight above like a plan, laid out from a Garden Plan. Seven short rows cross the bed. The first six have seedlings, the oldest row the biggest and each later row a little smaller; the seventh is a bare drill line, just sown. Straight after the seventh row a garden string is pegged across the bed, in copper: where the free trial ends and paying begins. Beyond it the bed runs on, bare soil, out of the picture. On the path below lie a seed tray and a trowel. A blackbird stands among the newest rows, pulling up a seedling: the one customer whose trial never ends.

You will be able to:

  • Write terms a customer can read and a court will uphold
  • Check sign-up, cookie and cancel screens against the law
  • Write a privacy notice that tells, not asks
