White Label SaaS

A payroll software company lets an HR consultancy sell its app under the consultancy's own brand. You act for the software company.

How one company sells another’s software under its own brand, taught through one agreement, clause by clause.

An office desk drawn straight on, with two monitors side by side and a developer seen from behind in an office chair between them, head turned to neither. Both screens show the same payroll app, line for line: the same menu down the side, the same table of employees with the same row picked out, the same button in the same place. They differ in one thing only, the mark in the top corner. On the left screen it is the software company's own small round mark and name bar; on the right, the same place holds a blank label outlined in copper, kept for the other company's name. On the desk a mug, a mouse and a printer with a payslip beside it; a window on the left with a plant on its sill, a drawer unit on the right, a bin under the desk, two lamps hanging over the desk.

You will be able to:

  • Read a white label agreement and say what each clause does
  • Explain what the software company and its partner each want, and why
  • Check the clauses that keep payroll running, from launch to the exit
