Venture Deals · glossary

Simple agreement for future equity

The standard US form for paying now for shares later, often called a SAFE. Modern versions use a post-money cap, which fixes the investor’s percentage, while the English form’s pre-money cap fixes only the price. The English and Irish equivalent is the advance subscription agreement. Chapter 3

Explained in Chapter 3, SAFEs and Advance Subscriptions, of Venture Deals.

Chapter 1 and this glossary are open to everyone; the whole edition is free to read with a free account until 31 January, and it stays open to an account opened by then.
