Blocked Notes

Notes held in the clearing system under an account holder letter, so that they cannot be sold until the plan meetings end. A noteholder’s vote counts only for Notes blocked in this way. The bank holds no Notes and votes by a proxy form instead. Explanatory Statement, definitions, “Blocked Notes” · Chapter 8 · see Account holder letter

Explained in Chapter 8, Classes, the Convening Hearing and the Plan Meetings, of Restructuring Plans.

How it comes up, in Chapter 8
The letter must reach the information agent, the firm that receives and counts the votes, before the voting deadline. The chair may accept a late letter, but need not. The Notes a letter covers become blocked Notes, which cannot be sold until the meeting ends. The bank votes by a proxy form instead.
