Restructuring Plans

A cold-storage group that cannot repay its bond rewrites its debts with the court's help. You act for the company.

How a company that cannot repay its debts is rescued, taught through one explanatory statement.

The plant room of the company's largest warehouse in the Netherlands, on a spring night in 2033, drawn straight on to its wall; a small high window shows the moon. On the left, the heavy insulated door to the cold store stands ajar, and pallet racking shows through it. In the middle stand two compressors. The pipes that come out of the cold store above the door and down into them are thick with frost; a warm pipe joins the two machines and runs up to the ceiling. On the right is the switch panel, and on the wall beside it a round temperature chart recorder behind glass. Its pen has drawn one even, unbroken circle, in copper: the cold has held all the while the company's debts are being rewritten. A pair of woollen socks hangs drying over the warm pipe. No one is in the room.

You will be able to:

  • Read an explanatory statement and say what each part does
  • Explain what the company and each creditor want, and why
  • Follow a plan from the lock-up to the court’s order
