Module 4 · Chapter 10
The End of the Licence
The brand licence ends on a fixed day, but the factory goes on. This chapter covers what stops, what is left to sell, what lasts for ever, and what happens if either side sells on.
In this chapter
- How each of the three licences ends, and which promises outlive them
- How the Sell-Off Period works, and when it is lost
- What a sale of the marks, or of the factory, means for the Licence
10.1The end of the Licence in one paragraph
The Licence ends in stages, not all at once. The brand licence ends at the end of month 24, and the Sheffield company then has three months to sell the branded pumps it has left. KelderPlan stops when the factory's own system takes over. The know-how licence never ends, and a few promises on each side outlive the brand licence.
Key point
When the brand licence ends, the brand goes, but the factory keeps making the same pumps. The know-how licence, and the duty to keep the know-how secret, carry on.
Also in this chapter
- Three ends for three licences
- The Sell-Off Period
- Clearing up after the brand
- If either side sells on
