- How the Contract sets her duties and her office and home days
- How extra hours and the 48-hour opt-out work
3.1Probation and working time in one paragraph
Clauses 4 to 7 of the Contract set the first months of Esme’s job and its everyday shape. Clause 4 makes her first 6 months a probation, a trial period with one week’s notice either side. Clauses 5 to 7 fix what she does, where she works and for how long. From 2027 the law lets an employee claim unfair dismissal after 6 months, so probation must do its work inside that time.
Key point
Cressby must decide about Esme inside her first 6 months. After that the law protects her from unfair dismissal, whatever the Contract calls the period.
